Trade Up Poker

Trade Up Poker is a variation theme applied to popular video poker games such as Jacks or Better. The concept of the game was developed by Action Gaming Inc. and the game machine was constructed and distributed by International Game Technology (IGT).

Trade Up Poker is quite a simple version of your standard video poker game. The game has the same rules except when a three-of-a-kind is dealt on the initial deal of 5 cards. When this happens the game offers you a choice to trade your three-of-a-kind hand for two more hands with the same three-of-a-kind held. The catch? The three-of-a-kind won’t pay unless you turn it into a four-of-a-kind or full house. After you trade your hand for two more hands, you will be dealt two extra cards to each hand from a separate deck. Additionally, if the player gets the four-of-a-kind or full house, these two hands receive a bonus payout but only on the Trade Up feature.

IGT designed this game to be in multi-hand version. The game can be played in Triple Pay and Five Play. The following games are available for Trade Up Poker.

When the Trade Up feature appears on multi-hand, if accepted, it will double the current amount of hands you play. So if you are on Triple Play, when you Trade Up your three-of-a-kind, you will play with 6 hands.

All of Trade Up Poker games can be played with a normal strategy since the special trade feature does not affect the normal rules of the game. We strongly recommend utilizing the Trade Up feature when it occurs, although this is not a regular happening (three-of-a-kinds appear once every 47.33 hands played on average).

Where to Play Trade Up Poker

Trade Up Poker Video Poker This game is not as common as other IGT machines. You can still find it in some miscellaneous casinos around the US and Canada. Some of these are:

How to Play Trade Up Poker

If you are familiar with normal draw video poker then you will be off just fine with this game. The rules of the game remain the same. First, select the game you would like to play and in which multi-hand version (3 or 5). Once inside the game insert your money into the machine and select how many bets you want to wager per hand. By pressing the “Bet One” button you add only one bet per each hand individually. By pressing the “Bet all Hands” you bet one credit simultaneously on all hands. If you wish to bet the maximum 5 credits per hand simply press the “Bet Max” button and the game will start automatically.

In order to apply for the Trade Up option the bets must be to a maximum (5 credits). Betting less than five will disable the Trade Up feature. If no three-of-a-kind is dealt then the game follows a normal video poker course. Select which cards (if any) to hold and then discard the rest for new cards by pressing the “Draw” Button. Any winnings will be made according to each game’s pay table.
